I have been drooling over all the new Gap baby goodness. It is a good thing Channing doesn't fit in 0-3 month clothes yet or my Halette would be hurting. With warmer weather on it's way (or maybe never in Colorado), here are some of our Spring style favorites! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7ia2gcWAqXnxG_nORhwYPfPJ0sU9K2BacOF0L5asx7uxJGxp5HmoFh_ht3LhWHvqngOoF1HlOoFLCtUXyHmL3kbKfskZmd3WDFgxGffQENetaN3pwDh_rvGvzMUGWRdHiWHX-wh0zMNc/s1600/springstyle.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="550" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7ia2gcWAqXnxG_nORhwYPfPJ0sU9K2BacOF0L5asx7uxJGxp5HmoFh_ht3LhWHvqngOoF1HlOoFLCtUXyHmL3kbKfskZmd3WDFgxGffQENetaN3pwDh_rvGvzMUGWRdHiWHX-wh0zMNc/s640/springstyle.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Gap girl clothes are absolutely adorable. They have the cutest styles. I don't know how many times I have been tempted to buy some outfits in hopes for a future (far future) baby girl to dress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8LBeYwvRZz1mdltVfRLVF4pzXQ5-OUnnRWJt9s26gwxdkh9CFlNh8DhybAx9xLxwqwMVvGvWVKcs8walavT0O9myVOnPqZ8wnxzxgKfzeACZ0FZcq7FMTWIKrNQv4pjm16EkTOk5dA3U/s1600/girlfav.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="550" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8LBeYwvRZz1mdltVfRLVF4pzXQ5-OUnnRWJt9s26gwxdkh9CFlNh8DhybAx9xLxwqwMVvGvWVKcs8walavT0O9myVOnPqZ8wnxzxgKfzeACZ0FZcq7FMTWIKrNQv4pjm16EkTOk5dA3U/s640/girlfav.png" width="640" /></a></div>

Gap is always having sales so although the original price is high, there's a good chance you can find it cheaper. Right now you can get 30% off online with coupon code GAPTREAT</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dear Channing,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another month under your belt! Good work, little fella! This month was a
lot like last month, only with a lot more crying in the daytime. Phew!
You are giving me a run for my money. It’s that infant fussy stage that
is the culprit, I’ll bet. <br />
<span id="more-12740"></span><br />
I’m finding out about patience and staying calm. You do seem to like to sleep in
your pack n play in the dark room during the day; you like to sleep every 1.30
hours of wakefulness. If I miss this window, you tend to stay awake and
yell. You can be a terror to get down for naps and just want to keep taking everything in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the happy side of things, you have been falling asleep by 8:00pm, and
you don’t wake up until your next meal at around 12:00am or so. And then
you sleep another 3-4 hrs, ready to eat again. This is
wonderful!! Thanks for that. It’s in your best interest to cry during the day
if you are going to be fussy at all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In case you are wondering later, you seem to have a very sweet
disposition overall. When you aren’t fighting sleep, you are so
serene and soft. You peer around at everything and seem to just take it
all in. You like to mimic the noises and faces we make at you. You’ll top it off with a
little grin. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
All I know for sure is I’m so lucky and excited to hold your hand in
this journey of yours. I like to look down at your face during your
mid-night feeding, and think about all the wondrous things you have
ahead of you. So many firsts are coming your way. You have no idea how
exciting it all is yet.Growing up is hard
work and I’m so glad I get to be here for it and cheer you on.<br />
<br />
I’m so excited to get to know you more and more each day, each one
part of a greater gift that reveals itself slowly over time. You’ll
never be two months old again. For that I am sad. But I get to witness
and share in the very sweetest of your years. How great is that? I thank
God every single day for the treasure that is you and the time we have
ahead together. How do you suppose that of all the little boys in the
universe I got the best one?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Love,</div>

Channing turned 8 weeks old on Tuesday. He is cooing and babbling alot more. He is most talkative when he first wakes up in the morning. The rest of the day it is hit or miss because he is fussy from fighting sleep. Getting this guy on a schedule is impossible. For now we are just happy to get him down for a nap with our a huge crying fit. From what I have read this is pretty normal but plan to talk to the Doctor today at Channing's 2 month checkup. There has to be something we can do to help him go to sleep with out fighting it. On Tuesday Channing sat in his bumbo for the first time. He has been holding his head up for awhile now but he wasn't big enough to sit in the seat. He also laughed for the first time on Tuesday as well. We were laying in bed with him after he woke up and I guess I looked funny. It was the cutest laugh ever. We have tried everything to get him to do it again. He is not having it. He just looks at us like we are idiots. :/</div>

I am not an actress nor a model. From the side I look like a normal healthy human being. From straight on is a total different story. No one tells you that after the baby is here the left over weight is carried in a way you never thought possible for you body. IT SUCKS!!! <b>You're still fat. </b>You will need new clothes after you've
had this kid because you'll be sort of second trimester doughy for a
while. This is yet another reason I hate those damn models and actresses that
are wafer thin 10 minutes after they've given birth because it isn't
realistic. Everything is very different when you can hand your baby off to a nanny
and have a personal trainer up in your face everyday. Pilates and brown
rice my ass. Stupid starlets. Except Heidi Klum. I love Heidi Klum and
that bitch earned her wings. Society puts unneeded pressure on us mom's to lose weight and look fab the min the baby pops out. For some reason we let this happen and it's just not far to us.<br />
<br />
Even looking at other Mommy bloggers it seems the only ones that actually have postpartum body posts had super hott body's and amazing genes to begin with. I unfortunately, like many, have not had this luxury. I think it is important to get real with ourselves and see what it is really like after having a baby. Not what its like for the rich and famous or the lucky ones. This is why I will start making bi-weekly posts on my progress to get my pre-baby body back. Let me just warn you. I am going to be self critical because I know what my body can look like. I also know what kind of work I had to put in to lose close to 35lbs before I even had a baby. Having to lose weight all over again sucks hard core!!! It's depressing and pisses me off all at the same time.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have lost 15 lbs so far. This is pretty annoying because I was under the impression you leave the hospital losing at least this much. I still have between 20 - 25 lbs to lose. I think breastfeeding has helped to a certain point but not a whole lot :(</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think the hardest thing to deal with is the weight I am carrying in my lower stomach. I have never had an issue with love handles or a muffin top. It is very frustrating trying to find something to wear. I have two pair of pants that fit. The rest look so gross on if I can even get them over my hips. I went to the mall the other day hoping to get a pair of pants and a pair of shorts. It was an epic failure!!! I was a size 6/8 before the baby. I thought a 10 would work...HAHA. Man did I feel like crap when I put those on. My fat and loose skin still hung over. There was no way I was buying a size 12. I decided I would just have to deal with the pants that fit and just wear dresses all summer long. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Is it weird at that moment I wanted the pregnant body back?! At least it was an excuse to have a tummy. I guess the fact I just had a baby is an excuse as well :/ The important thing for me is to look good and feel good in my clothes. I know they say give yourself 9 months to take off the weight and it can take a year for your hips to go back to normal. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is my game plan for losing the weight:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. eat healthy - this has been hard. I could care less for real food right now but could devour sweets for every meal. I also tend to not eat enough which has a huge problem for me when trying to lose weight. I plan on posting some yummy healthy recipes I have tried on pinterest.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. exercise - I want to get back into exercising slowly. I can't afford to be extremely sore when taking care of Channing. I have been doing some small circuit training exercising and doing Tracy Anderson's Post pregnancy videos. Once the weather is nicer I plan on getting in some daily walks with Channing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My biggest challenge right now is finding the time to exercise. Our little guy fights sleep all day long. This makes for a long day. When I do get him down for a nap I usually am trying to get stuff done around the house. In the end I think I am going to have to find exercises I can do while baby wearing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'd love to hear what any of you have done to rid yourself of the extra baby weight. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

As promised, a list of things I could not live without in the first few months with out little guy. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmDzeJZ9NtPvUT0RzPPt9BX636BBr-koRUrfYkyWQXZF_JOVUsFwrFwmzN5UKxxfM2heefyiBJ5B5-0RDYQJsmBrxsCst6fst3QwjpQsOi2Ag7uhiBYguNSICL2YjOouplLuB1UnVo2-g/s1600/one&twofav.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="550" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmDzeJZ9NtPvUT0RzPPt9BX636BBr-koRUrfYkyWQXZF_JOVUsFwrFwmzN5UKxxfM2heefyiBJ5B5-0RDYQJsmBrxsCst6fst3QwjpQsOi2Ag7uhiBYguNSICL2YjOouplLuB1UnVo2-g/s640/one&twofav.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Miracle Blanket - This thing is the bomb!! Channing was an escape artist until this blanket. We have lots of swaddling blankets but they just wouldn't keep his arms in. He never gets his arms out of this one and sleeps so much better.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=miracle+blanket&sprefix=miracle%2Caps%2C234&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amiracle+blanket" target="_blank">Miracle Blanket</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Aveeno Baby Lotion - This is the only lotion that we have tried so far that doesn't break out our little guy. It also does wonders on clearing up baby acne and rashes. I apply it a few times a day when a rash is coming on and by the end of the day it is all cleared up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dbaby-products&field-keywords=aveeno+baby+soothign+relief+lotion&sprefix=aveeno+baby+%2Caps%2C234&rh=n%3A165796011%2Ck%3Aaveeno+baby+soothign+relief+lotion" target="_blank">Aveeno Baby Lotion</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bobby - We used this from day one. It is great for breastfeeding. Channing also loves snuggling in it for short naps during the day. You can also position it around their feet when they are sleeping. It helps then feel more secure. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dbaby-products&field-keywords=bobby&sprefix=aveeno+baby+%2Caps%2C234&rh=n%3A165796011%2Ck%3Abobby" target="_blank">Bobby </a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Changing Pad Liners - Seriously everyone needs a few of these! The liners are so much easier then having to change the changing pad cover and washing it every time there is an accident. Just simply throw on a new liner. It also protects your cover from fading from all those washes you would have to do other wise.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12602707&CAWELAID=1384110929&pla=plab&cagpspn=pla" target="_blank">Changing Pad Liners</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Exfoliating Cleansing Towelettes - When you have a baby around some times taking the time to wash and exfoliate your face is impossible. These are from target and their up & up brand. They come in cucumber and apricot (smells so yummy). They work wonders at removing makeup. The fact they exfoliate at the same time is a major plus.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.target.com/p/exfoliating-cleansing-towelettes-30-pk-refill/-/A-11658242" target="_blank">Up & Up Exfoliating Cleansing Towelettes</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My Little Lamb Platinum Edition Swing - This swing has been a life saver. It keeps Channing entertained long enough so I can get some things done. He really likes the projected light up stars and lambs. A major plus is you can plug it in to save on batteries. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13039765" target="_blank">My Little Lamb Platinum Edition Swing</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Naked Juice - These are packed with fruits and veggies, they are filling and sooo yummy. With being so busy with a baby these are my meals on most days.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope this is helpful for first time and soon to be mommas. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And just for fun a picture of our little guy. Isn't he cute!!</div>

Man has he grown in 7 weeks and were has the time gone! Our little guy is spending alot more time awake. He enjoys sitting in his swing and checking out the surroundings. He recently discovered the TV. It keeps him entertained longer than anything. Naps are not his thing. He fights them and as the day goes on it gets worse. He is still waking up 2-3 times during the night. Which isn't bad because he falls right back to sleep on most occasions. I can't believe he is almost 2 months old. Time goes way to fast. </div>

Channing had his one month checkup last week, and to my suprise now wieghs 8lbs 2 oz. I knew he was putting on some weight but didn't expect the 8 lb mark. He has is now 20.5" long. Our Dr. was pleased with his weight gain. Channing is currently measuring in the 18 - 20 percentile.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We start shots at next months checkup. I really am not looking forward to this. I am just hoping he handles it well and doesn't feel super crappy afterwards. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Now for some cuteness! :) </div>

So technically Valentines Day was his first real holiday, but since we were still in the hospital I'm not counting it. :) I had plans to take little man downtown to the St. Patty's Day festivities. It ended up being a cold day and decided I didn't want to take the chance of him catching anything. We stayed home decked out in green and cuddled instead. I figure I need to take advantage of this as much as possible because one day cuddling won't be on the top of his list. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It has been one month since you entered into our lives. It really seems like just yesterday. If one month has went this fast I hate to think how fast the rest will go. You have grown so much and we are already seeing your personality. When you want to eat there is no waiting. Your little temper comes out the most during this time. I love seeing you waking up with a smile on your face. It absolutely melts my heart. As much as I don't want you to grow up, I can't wait for when your smiling all the time. You love showers so much you actually fell asleep in your daddy's arms while showering.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We love you so so much. You are our most prized possession and have made
our lives so much brighter. When I wake up and see your sweet face, my
day couldn't get any better. You are such an amazing baby and I feel so
honored to be your momma. </div>

So the idea was to post these each week. Obviously, that did not happen and I am sure I will be late posting these in the future. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's crazy to me how much he has grown and changed from week 2 to 3. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Channing has been a really good baby. Starting about two weeks he has been fussy from about </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
6pm - 1 am. He will start to doze off and start screaming again. We have tried swaddling, white noise, feeding, and pretty much everything else you can think of. These will all work for a short amount of time. Any insight or ideas on how to help him fall asleep would be much appreciated. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He is a super happy baby during the day. I am so thankful he doesn't have the fits like he has been having at night. He almost always wakes up with a smile on his face. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Some of the things he likes:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ having his hair washed</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ sleeping on his side. he has done this since birth. no back sleeping for this baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~sitting up when he is awake.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Dislikes:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ diaper being changed. This kid would sit in his own filth all day if I would let him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ a bath. He likes showers much better</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~sleeping by himself. We have managed to get him to sleep in his pack in play for a total of 2 hrs since he has been born.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am going to try to do better about posting these every week as well as monthly updates on him. I also will be posting my birth story and nursery updates in the near future. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I was dilated 1cm and 75% effaced. She said
she could sweep my membranes at my next appointment if I wanted to. My
blood pressure was high 160/100. I tried explaining I rushed to get
there and had drank some pop ( which usually makes it higher). They
checked again before I left and it was still high. So off to L &D
triage I went for tests and monitoring. I had no symptoms of
pre-eclampsia so I wasn't really worried, but if my blood pressure
didn't go down an induction would be a possibility. After 2 hours of
monitoring me and the baby my blood pressure had went down to with in
normal ranges with a few on the upper end of normal. Then Channing
decided he didn't want to be monitored anymore and moved and my heart
beat was picked up. So to be safe he was monitored longer and an
ultrasound was ordered. In the end everything looked fine. He is
measuring small, but this has been the case the whole time and I don't
really get why they made it seem like somewhat of an issue now. Plus he
weighed 5.6 lbs last week and was told that was good so who knows. I am
offically on bed rest. Boring! </span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

There was some protein in my urine so they decided to do a 24 hour urine test and blood work again. Blood work came back good but there was enough protein in my urine to give me the status of mild pre-eclampsia. Baby was still looking good he is just measuring a week behind. This has been the norm for him from the beginning. The Dr was more worried about me. She wanted Channing to have a little more time to develop so we decided to start induction with cervadil tonight and then pitocin in the morning, We did another cervical check and I was now 1.5 cm dilated and 75% effaced. a half cm in four days seemed pretty good to me. </span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06118203959500323977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3620232947320991511.post-5078500889738998332013-01-30T21:50:00.001-07:002013-01-31T13:30:29.637-07:00hypnobabies home study courseRemember back in <a href="http://ontobaby.blogspot.com/2012/12/natural-child-birth-and-hypnobabies.html" target="_blank">this post</a> I talked about natural child birth and using hypnobabies. I also said I would update on the progress of using the home study course. This will be my update / review on the course so far. I have so far completed weeks 1-3 out of 5 total.<br />
<br />
<br />
Hypnobabies is a complete study course and can be worked through in your own home. It comes with multiple CD's containing many different hypnosis tracks. There's commitment on your part - you need to find the time to listen to your assigned tracks daily (one each day; what you listen to varies with what week of the course you're in). There's also a pregnancy affirmations track you can listen to as you work around the house, drive, exercise, or as you're drifting off to sleep at night. I actually loved the affirmation track. It was an easy listen since I could pop it in when ever I wanted ( mainly driving).<br />
<br />
Let me start with the only issue I have with hypnobabies. The name! I think the thought of hypnosis or self hypnosis turns people off immediately. When people think of hypnosis they think of people clucking around like chickens and having no recollection of doing so. This is not what hypnobabies is! Hypnobabies uses the power of suggestion and positive thinking to put you in a deep meditative and relaxed state. During my use of hypnobabies I am completely aware of what is going on with me and my surroundings. I guess this is why they call it eyes open hypnosis. Also, because you are so aware of your body sometimes I find my self thinking "this is not working". Some of the scripts I have a hard time feeling relaxed and cannot wait for the 30 mins to be over with. Over time, I came to realize that the previous hypnosis I had done was "lighter" and more like guided relaxation, so it didn't have the same effect on my subconscious mind that Hypnobabies does. So I didn't react strongly by fidgeting, etc during those previous scripts because they weren't as effective at getting into my subconscious, not because it worked better!<br />
<br />
Here are a few tips when using hypnobabies:<br />
<ol><li>Even when you feel fidgety, continue the session. Just move as you need to move, (with your lightswitch in the center or on, when you reach that part) without judging how much you are getting out of it. </li><li>If you're having trouble focusing and find that you're missing most of what is said because of your fidgeting or wandering mind, stay calm. Look at each word individually, rather than entire thoughts. That focus helps keep your conscious mind active and gives it something to do, so it doesn't run off as often. While it's thinking about each word, your subconscious mind is actually absorbing the meaning and learning the lessons being offered. And if your conscious mind does run off again, just bring it back and return to thinking of each word as you hear it. I often find that I am asking myself questions. I simply respond by saying " i don't know" it really helps to settle the mind and bring it back to where it needs to be.</li><li>Move on to the next week as suggested. Most people find that they respond differently to different scripts, so you may find that things go much differently now. I also sometimes go back to scripts that I had issues with if i have free time. </li><li>Be patient. Your subconscious is learning new skills, and it will take time. </li></ol><h3><b>Your First Week </b></h3>During the first week of Hypnobabies you learn more about what hypnosis is and what hypnosis for childbirth is. Hypnobabies presents hypnosis scripts that walk you into a state of deep relaxation. Your body is comfortable and relaxed and your mind is open to the Hypnobabies suggestions. However, you remain in control and can bring yourself out of this deeply relaxed and open state at any time. The course covers this in detail and each CD track reminds you of these facts.<br />
<br />
You also learn just how powerful words are. This is a great part of the course - it's very true. Hypnobabies asks you to change some of the language surrounding pregnancy and birth. One of the biggest examples of this is the word "labor." When it's time for your baby to come you don't go into labor - you enter your birthing time. The Hypnobabies course says "[l]abor is hard work and your Birthing Time is not; it is easy and joyful." There are several other terms that you'll replace with more positive words as you work through Hypnobabies ( contractions = pressure waves). The changing of words to more positive ones makes a ton of since. The more positively you look at something the more easier and open you are to it.<br />
<br />
The power of your mind is outlined and emphasized in the first week. You'll learn just how much your mind can influence what manifests physically in your body (and birth). And you'll learn how practicing and affirmations can really help you to program your mind - and thus your body - for a good birth.<br />
<br />
You also learn some of the anatomy of your uterus and you begin your first hypnosis scripts and tools. The "Bubble of Peace" and "Special Place" you get in the first week.<br />
<br />
<h3>The Second Week</h3>You're introduced to solid principles of good pregnancy nutrition during the second week of <a href="http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com/HypnoBabies">Hypnobabies</a>. The advice is based on the work of the late Dr. Thomas Brewer. It's good information that'll keep you and your baby healthy (the nutrition articles on this site are based in part of Dr. Brewer's recommendations!)<br />
<br />
A protein chart and nutrition log are provided to help you ensure you're getting all that you and baby need. There are also several helpful articles about other nutrition issues such as salt intake, calcium supplementation, and toxic substances you should avoid. I wish I would have had this guide earlier in pregnancy. <br />
<br />
This week covers common pregnancy discomforts, sleeping positions, and some basic pregnancy exercises (including important exercises such as the pelvic rock and kegels.) The week rounds out with a good description of the stages of birth. <br />
<br />
You also go more in-depth into hypnosis, learning some new tools and listening to two new tracks. One of the tracks begins by letting your get yourself down into hypnosis using a new technique (the "finger-drop" technique). It's good practice.<br />
<br />
<h4> A little info on the finger-drop technique.</h4><span style="font-weight: normal;">All you need to do is do the fingerdrop. There is nothing to "get". You are training your subconscious mind to enter a deep state of hypnosis when you use the technique. There is no reason to believe that you will experience anything that indicates you are in hypnosis when you do it. As long as you are listening to your scipts in the order detailed in the workbook and practicing your finger-drops, you are doing it correctly, and your subconscious mind is learning what it needs to know. It truly is that easy. </span>f you are dropping your finger and turning your lightswitch off, you are doing it correctly, no matter how you feel while doing it. It will most likely improve over time, until you at least feel very relaxed when you do it. But even if you don't feel that, you are still doing it correctly, and it is still working. <br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>The Third Week </h3> This week is a good week because it covers interventions in birth and how one intervention can lead to another (the "cascade of interventions" or the "Domino effect") There is good coverage of the most common procedures as well as risks and benefits of each. <br />
You'll also learn about informed consent and creating a birth plan in this week - <a href="http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com/HypnoBabies">Hypnobabies</a> emphasizes birth plans strongly. A nice thing about the course is it gives a lot of guidance on working with your hospital and care providers (doctors and nurses) to have the kind of birth you want. If you're planning a natural hospital birth Hypnobabies will provide you a lot of advice on talking to your care team.<br />
One new track is introduced in week three. You use it along with the "Deepening" script you began in week 2. The new track helps you learn to create anesthesia in specific parts of your body. It's a good lesson. For some reason, however that particular track was hard for me to listen though and I was glad to be done with it!<br />
You'll learn a new technique too - Eyes Open Hypnosis - which is very helpful in preparing for your birth.<br />
<br />
<br />
So far I have really enjoyed doing hypnobabies. It's about 30 min in my day that I get to unwind and relax. Sometimes It can be tough and I find myself questioning how this will work during childbirth or if it will at all. I just have to remind myself that whether I feel like it is working or not my subconscious is being programmed to do what it needs to do when I am in childbirth. The whole positive thinking can be hard sometimes. I think as human beings it is alot easier for us to go to the negative and question things. I will do another review once I finish the next three weeks.<br />
<br />
I thought I would leave you with two videos of a hypnobabies births. The first one explains the process as she is going through it. The second if you actually go to you tube and look at the description you explains what is going on in the video. You can also hear the scripts playing in the background. This one is my favorite! I like how after she gives birth how with it and in the moment she is.<br />

If you remember back form this <a href="http://ontobaby.blogspot.com/2012/11/nursery-plan.html" target="_blank">post</a> we decided to go with the Tarva dresser from Ikea. It was budget friendly and easy to paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRsdEqCUTz7z3mV4FMoRn9eUoWoLT_DedJGqftce069ES10ou34SYqd2eX23w0imu_-2fiuERHyS4WjqS6VnIgoXbzFthaOi-L2ty9quyLl9UJhiEDDd29wLa6l5S88k1FGXyA5l4OQEc/s1600/tarva--drawer-chest__0143752_PE303252_S4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRsdEqCUTz7z3mV4FMoRn9eUoWoLT_DedJGqftce069ES10ou34SYqd2eX23w0imu_-2fiuERHyS4WjqS6VnIgoXbzFthaOi-L2ty9quyLl9UJhiEDDd29wLa6l5S88k1FGXyA5l4OQEc/s320/tarva--drawer-chest__0143752_PE303252_S4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided I wanted to do an ombre look on the dresser. Since we can't paint the walls I wanted the furniture to have pops of colors. We chose to do just the drawers in varying shades of blue ( behr paint top: ice cube, Middle: adriatic mist, Bottom:balmy seas ). Doing ombre on furniture is super easy just pick a paint ship with the varying shades of your color choice. All the guess work is done for you.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We ditched the wood knobs that came with the dresser and picked up these brass knobs from Home Depot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My only issue is the top and middle color are very similar. This wasn't the case on the swatch. I just don't think it was matched very well. Also, I thought I could get sample sizes in the blue paints but they only make them in flat paint..yuck!! So now i have all this left over paint. I also have to go back and stain the middle leg. Kinda forgot about that one. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also got a small night stand (rast from ikea) for beside the rocker.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to stain the bottom part below the door to help match the other pieces of furniture. The drawers are white ( i can't remember the exact shade) and the side is our middle shade of blue</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
( adriatic mist). I still need two more knobs. Obviously pregnant women can't count correctly :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are finished with all the furniture projects except extra knobs and touch ups. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is what we have left to do in the nursery:</div>
<ul>
<li>Finish putting up our map wall. I ran out of our paper with about 1 1/2 strips left. Frustrating!!! It is going to be a really cool back drop for his crib. I am excited to share it with you when it's finished.</li>
<li>Decorations put up. I have the wall above his changing table / dresser finished. I need to figure out what to put on the other walls. I think on our other large wall I want to put his newborn pictures. That will have to be a project at a later date. I am planning on having my mom help me finish the decorating when she gets here. </li>
<li>Bedding- the blanket is all but finished. I need to finish the hem around the edge. My sewing machine was pissing me off so it was either break the machine or take a break from sewing. I will put a tutorial up on how I made it when it is finished. It is super easy if you have a cooperative sewing machine. I just need to do the crib skirt but wanted to wait till the crib is here so I know the measurements are 100% accurate.</li>
<li>These are the main things left to do everything else is just little things here are there. </li>
</ul>

There are so many different birthing classes ( lamaze, the bradley method, etc. ) to choose from. After doing some research I have decided on hypnobabies. It uses tactics that I already believe work. Like relaxing the mind and body. As well as using positive thinking to navigate situations.<br />
<br />
<b>So what in the world is Hypnobabies?</b><br />
<br />
It’s a childbirth preparation course designed based on the philosophy
that childbirth is a normal, natural event. It does NOT have to be
agonizing. Rather, we associate pain with childbirth because we’re
surrounded by a culture that insists childbirth is a scary, painful time
that requires being rescued by epidurals and modern medicine just to
survive it.<br />
It doesn’t have to be that way! Pregnant moms shouldn’t be afraid of
their baby’s birth. This course helps de-program the mother from
all those negative connotations associated with birthing. It teaches the
mother how to allow herself to deeply relax, both physically and
mentally. <br />
It also gives the mother specific tools in hypnotic anesthesia for
childbearing. It’s the same sorta technique that hypnotherapists use for
clients who are allergic or who otherwise cannot tolerate pain
medications, but require a surgical procedure. For instance, there’s <a href="http://www.odemagazine.com/doc/59/replacing-pain-killers-with-hypnosis/">this guy who used hypnosis during his wisdom tooth extraction.</a><br />
Now, the method used in that dental procedure is not quite the same as what I will learn in Hypnobabies. Since childbirth is a natural event (and getting a tooth yanked out
isn’t), the body is already making preparations for birth to happen.<br />
<br />
The course was developed by a woman who was a Bradley Method
instructor for a decade, and then also an instructor in the
HypnoBirthing method (different from Hypnobabies!). She saw that the two
methods were somewhat lacking, and set out to create a course that gave
moms more tools for birthing. You might recall that I did Bradley with
my preparation for Jonathan, so it’ll be interesting to do a little
comparison later on.<br />
<br />
<b>Hypnosis for childbirth<br />
</b><br />
As explained in the HB course materials, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
You don’t do anything against your will. You are in complete control of
what happens, and whether you accept or reject suggestions given to you
while under hypnosis. <br />
Visit the <a href="http://www.hypnobabies.com/mylink.php?id=4570">hypnosis for childbirth</a> page on the Hypnobabies site for a lot more details.<br />
As mentioned on that page, the HB course will teach you how the body
works to get the baby out, and how the muscles involved work more
efficiently when the body (and mind!) is in a relaxed state. <br />
From the site: “Comfort in childbirth depends on much more than deep
relaxation, so you are also taught the most in-depth hypnotic anesthesia
techniques that exist.” This point is key. <br />
Some other childbirth classes do emphasize relaxation, but I think some fall short in giving moms tools on <i>how </i>to
effectively relax and stay there — and regain your relaxation if you
start to lose it. Or, they are effective at the relaxation part, but
they don’t give you additional tools (like hypnotic anesthesia). Hypnobabies doesn’t just tell you to relax — it teaches you how to relax. <br />
<br />
The course emphasizes “eyes-open childbirth” which I think is really
cool. You don’t have to be laying completely still in a bed, or have
your eyes closed to still benefit from your hypnosis. Instead, you can
be mobile, talking, and moving about and still use your hypnosis during
your birthing.<br />

<b>About the home study<br />
</b><br />
You can opt to take an in-person Hypnobabies course, which is six weeks
long. Or, you can do a five-week home study (plus maintenance!). Due to
scheduling and personal preference, I’m doing the home study.<br />
The course kit for about $125 shipped.With a 20% discount for signing up for their newsletter.<br />

- CDs containing 12 Hypnobabies scripts<br />
- Big stack of misc. handouts<br />
<br />
<br />
Visit this link for more information on the pack, <a href="http://www.hypnobabies.com/mylink.php?id=3812">plus descriptions of what’s on the CDs</a>. Also on that page is an outline of the course contents for each week.<br />
If you’d like more info, of course you can visit the main Hypnobabies page, but you can<a href="http://www.hypnobabies.com/mylink.php?id=4058"> also download two tracks for free</a>. One is an intro to Hypnobabies, and the other is called “Relax Me,” which is simply a track to help you, ya know, relax!<br />
I have already been listening to the "relax me" track. I suggest it for anyone who needs to distress. I absolutely feel more relaxed and energized when I am finished.<br />
<br />
There are tons of you tube videos on hypnobabies. This one is my favorite: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfwKFyKBoOU" target="_blank">hypnobabies birth of Grace</a>. Obviously she is still having pain, but the way she peacefully manages it and how relaxed she seems is pretty amazing to me.<br />
<br />
I guess in a couple of months we will see how well it works. I have read alot of birth stories where it has worked and a few where it didn't work well enough to not get pain meds. I will post updates on how the home study course is working when I start it.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06118203959500323977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3620232947320991511.post-46898671093033424902012-12-10T14:19:00.001-07:002012-12-10T15:06:20.677-07:0030 weeks<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Having so many things that are not organized is driving me crazy. I think I have taken nesting to a different level. I have organized the bedroom and all of our clothes, the bathroom, the hall linen closet. Now i am tackling the babies nursery. Eric thinks I am nuts! We were putting away baby clothes last night. I was having him fold the socks a very specific way. He says " i am surprised you are not sorting these by heavy and light weight socks". I just look at him and show him the two drawer organizers I had going one for heavy one for light. He just laughed. I think he new better then to question my crazy organization tactics. <b> </b></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>

This past weekend was spent rearranging our bedroom. We needed to make room for the pack n play and our current layout just wasn't working. After taking the bed apart and removing pretty much everything in the room we then started bringing it all back in. I used a room planner ( <a href="http://babyproductexperts.icovia.com/icovia.aspx" target="_blank">icovia</a> ) to map out the new layout. It made everything so much easier. Our rooms are not huge so it's important to have something that is functional and still maximizes our space. I also reorganized the closet to allow for Eric's clothes to be moved from the extra bedroom to my closet. Now with our bedroom done it's time start organizing the babies room which is currently my office. This also means we will need to relocate and downsize my office :-/ </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the layout we came up with for the babies room:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvI4xjA1Wh6-cuXtenZ7FhLAQBd4j6FB6-XVhCzv0vx6mK2zsFBvUW67PKUQRLDKRCG1dJcgDPH0WWJQiWoVf4gEubO06TVqStfllK-q7n_HnTEIp0buXQwroYl2aRjXhTP9dTBCywqF0/s1600/myimage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="326" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvI4xjA1Wh6-cuXtenZ7FhLAQBd4j6FB6-XVhCzv0vx6mK2zsFBvUW67PKUQRLDKRCG1dJcgDPH0WWJQiWoVf4gEubO06TVqStfllK-q7n_HnTEIp0buXQwroYl2aRjXhTP9dTBCywqF0/s640/myimage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I spent alot of time trying to find a dresser I wanted to use in the babies room. I searched craigs list and some consignment shops. I wanted something modern and retro to fit with his baby bed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The only thing we found that was even close to our price range was this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg907s5XHWRgwshA7gQn1XmhRcYKR9oHE3Yn0QHwo6nktcbsRdD6yW-u0KGLBz1OYANevwO0s1dTn3_sOPCczBgyzmA0V4ARZwCfijK0vQTt0KPZ94XPdaEYr9eAlX2j49-nqIFX3Wf-BM/s1600/midcentury.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg907s5XHWRgwshA7gQn1XmhRcYKR9oHE3Yn0QHwo6nktcbsRdD6yW-u0KGLBz1OYANevwO0s1dTn3_sOPCczBgyzmA0V4ARZwCfijK0vQTt0KPZ94XPdaEYr9eAlX2j49-nqIFX3Wf-BM/s400/midcentury.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
the plan would be to paint it, but decided it would be way to much of an effort to get it where it needs to be before we could even think about painting it. That's when I decided to go with the <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10221421/" target="_blank">Tarva</a> from Ikea. It has similar lines to the mid century piece I like but will be way easier to paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRsdEqCUTz7z3mV4FMoRn9eUoWoLT_DedJGqftce069ES10ou34SYqd2eX23w0imu_-2fiuERHyS4WjqS6VnIgoXbzFthaOi-L2ty9quyLl9UJhiEDDd29wLa6l5S88k1FGXyA5l4OQEc/s1600/tarva--drawer-chest__0143752_PE303252_S4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRsdEqCUTz7z3mV4FMoRn9eUoWoLT_DedJGqftce069ES10ou34SYqd2eX23w0imu_-2fiuERHyS4WjqS6VnIgoXbzFthaOi-L2ty9quyLl9UJhiEDDd29wLa6l5S88k1FGXyA5l4OQEc/s400/tarva--drawer-chest__0143752_PE303252_S4.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A few other pieces I would like to get from Ikea are the <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/75305709/" target="_blank">rast </a>and the <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50103086/#/70103085" target="_blank">expedit</a> shelving for extra storage. The rast I want to put next to the rocker and I have a fun paint idea for it. The expedit we plan to add legs to look something like this, but without the drawers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkWsy8d4cXokExngeCzkPDPJrJtNUL4fsRFl6smHJfjzLKHR4sK9JyN_1Ne70P6UGBHbYqmSgYQUgxT6pSr_b5Si1WoP8bEBKi0xXlMU5PYue6tW9ULPqoiM_CXyKfTtl6COSbp3mL0Lo/s1600/13370130113251250_dTzPSTxu_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkWsy8d4cXokExngeCzkPDPJrJtNUL4fsRFl6smHJfjzLKHR4sK9JyN_1Ne70P6UGBHbYqmSgYQUgxT6pSr_b5Si1WoP8bEBKi0xXlMU5PYue6tW9ULPqoiM_CXyKfTtl6COSbp3mL0Lo/s320/13370130113251250_dTzPSTxu_c.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is what we have come up with so far for Channing's room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilB1wHfN8grcXnyQh_sAMMyeuAZDil0e_Fb6wbtSQkeUe4OGLebioHQR9QGsK72JwxNnqjhyoi8tFIgJpalWlYg6wUhDDIhe0MUPQATiS0BqyMCAG3_PzLDirdK34gpNF20pXxuVnIxN8/s1600/nurserydesign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilB1wHfN8grcXnyQh_sAMMyeuAZDil0e_Fb6wbtSQkeUe4OGLebioHQR9QGsK72JwxNnqjhyoi8tFIgJpalWlYg6wUhDDIhe0MUPQATiS0BqyMCAG3_PzLDirdK34gpNF20pXxuVnIxN8/s400/nurserydesign.jpg" width="346" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. <a href="http://www.babybedding.com/mist-and-gray-chevron-hidden-tab-drapes-with-vertical-trim" target="_blank">misty and gray chevron curtains</a> at $129 bucks these are out of the questions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fun thing about these is the chevron is in the fabric collection we are using for </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
the bedding. These will be an easy diy using the <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80111985/" target="_blank">Merete</a> curtains from ikea and cost </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
around $40 to make.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2.<a href="http://www.interiorplace.com/white-nautical-map-wallpaper/" target="_blank"> Nautical map wallpaper</a> on the wall behind the crib. I was going to use a bunch of nautical charts but calculated it would cost about $130 for one wall. No thanks! This wall paper should be much easier and since we are renting I have an idea of how to do the wall paper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
with out it being permanent :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. crib is from target and part of the babyletto collection</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4. Tarva dresser will also be used as a changing table. We will paint it similar to the crib and add an ombre effect to the front and some brass knobs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5. Bedding. This is the idea I came up with for the blanket. I'll also be doing a crib skirt using the blue strips and chevron fabric. The total cost for this should be about $70.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
6. <a href="http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=24099624&color=004&navAction=jump&itemdescription=true" target="_blank">Herringbone rug</a> from urban outfitters. You really can't beat $89 for a 5x7 rug.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
7. Great grandmothers rocker redone in a gray linen fabric</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now to just find the time and money to start on these projects :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
